Does gabapentin cause liver damage?

My doctor has recommended Gabapentin for my restless legs syndrome. I'm reviewing the possible side effects and came across some mentions of liver issues. Can taking Gabapentin lead to liver damage, and how common is it?

Actually it is safe for the liver yaar, because it exits our body through the kidneys. Just don't mix it with pain killers or alcohol without asking your doctor first, that can cause issues.

Hello, I am actually very new to taking these kinds of heavy medicines. I read about liver risks and got really scared. Does anyone know if we need to do regular blood tests to check liver health while on this?

To keep your liver functioning smoothly while on any medication, try eating simple, home-cooked vegetarian meals. Fresh green vegetables and limiting oily food can naturally support your digestive health.

Beta, the liver is a very strong organ and heals well. Along with your regular medicines, you can have a little warm water with lemon in the morning. It keeps your system clean and active.

As someone managing high blood pressure, I always keep an eye on liver and kidney function. My doctor reviews my routine blood tests every six months. Just maintain a clean lifestyle and keep your doctor in the loop.

Medical literature shows gabapentin does not undergo significant hepatic metabolism, meaning it is not processed by the liver. My doctor confirmed this when I asked about potential toxicity. However, patients with kidney issues do need dose adjustments.

While clinical studies suggest minimal risk of liver injury from gabapentin, individual responses can vary. It is always wise to consult your primary care physician and monitor your liver enzymes if you have any pre-existing conditions.
