Does food poisoning cause fever?

I've been feeling really unwell since morning, with stomach cramps and diarrhea. I also have a slight fever now, and I'm suspecting food poisoning from something I ate yesterday. Is it common for food poisoning to cause a fever?

Yes, it absolutely can. When your body is fighting off bacteria from bad food, the immune system raises the temperature to kill it. Avoid any workouts and eat very light meals like curd rice until the fever completely goes down.

Haan na, fever is very common in food poisoning when the infection is a bit strong. Mere husband ko bhi last month bahut high fever ho gaya tha thoda kharab chinese khane ke baad. Aap thoda rest karo abhi.

I didn't know food poisoning could cause a fever, I thought it was just stomach upset. I have a mild temperature of 99.5 right now with nausea. Do I need to take fever tablets or will it go away on its own?

Yes, it is quite common to get a fever as your body tries to clear out the toxins. Try to get some sleep and keep yourself hydrated with coconut water. Take care, you will feel better soon.

Haan babu, bilkul bukhar aa sakta hai jab pet kharab hota hai. Sharir andar se ladta hai na bimarise. Thoda dhyan rakho, soti kapde se matha ponchho aur daktar babu ko dikha lo agar bukhar badhe.

Oho, that outside chole bhature gave you a free hot temperature package! Jokes apart, yes, the body goes to war with the bad food and heats up. Just don't let your hydration levels drop while your system is fighting.

Please don't try any weird herbal remedies you find online to cure this fever. If it is food poisoning with fever, it means there is an infection that might need proper medical attention. Go see a real doctor.

Currently awake at 3 AM with a thermometer in my mouth and a rumbling stomach, so yes, it definitely causes fever! Between the shivering and running to the washroom, I am losing my mind. Get some rest if you can.

Yes, it does. When my sister got food poisoning, the emergency room doctor told us that fever indicates an inflammatory response. It is best to go to a proper clinic and let a doctor examine you instead of guessing at home.

Fever is actually a sign of infection, often bacterial like Salmonella or E. coli. While mild fevers can subside, if it crosses 101 degrees or is accompanied by severe dehydration, seeing a doctor is highly recommended.
