Does fluoxetine cause weight gain?

I've been on Fluoxetine for depression for a few months, and I've noticed I'm gaining weight, which is disheartening. My diet hasn't changed much. Does Fluoxetine cause weight gain as a common side effect?

Fluoxetine can actually cause weight loss initially, but with long-term use, some people might experience mild weight gain. Maintaining regular physical activity helps keep it in check.

Fluoxetine is generally considered weight-neutral compared to other SSRIs, but changes in appetite can lead to weight gain. I track my daily calories and steps on an app to monitor any sudden changes.

It can cause some weight changes over time. Since I have thyroid issues, I always ensure I get my regular thyroid tests and consult my doctor to distinguish between medication side effects and hormonal changes.

Some weight gain can happen as your appetite improves when you feel better. I try to drink warm fennel water in the morning and eat fiber-rich home-cooked food to keep my digestion and weight healthy.
