Does fibromyalgia cause weight gain?

I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few months ago, and since then, I feel like I'm gaining weight even though my diet hasn't changed much. My clothes are feeling tighter. Does fibromyalgia cause weight gain, or is it something else I need to look into?

Yes, it can, because the constant pain makes it very hard to move or exercise, leading to weight gain. I faced complications because I ignored my sudden weight gain, which put more stress on my painful joints. Please consult your doctor to manage this properly.

I panicked so much when I started gaining weight after my fibromyalgia diagnosis. But my doctor reassured me that it is common due to poor sleep, pain medicines, and reduced activity. Once I understood this, I felt much better and worked on a gentle routine.

Fibromyalgia pain can make you inactive, but if you are gaining weight rapidly, please get your thyroid levels checked too. I have thyroid issues and the symptoms often overlap with fibromyalgia fatigue. Regular blood tests and doctor follow-up are very important.

Yes, it can cause some weight gain because of the fatigue and pain keeping you from being active. Please don't be hard on yourself; just focus on taking rest and healing step by step.

My doctor explained that fibromyalgia causes weight gain through multiple pathways, including hormonal imbalances, poor sleep quality which increases cortisol, and certain prescribed pain medications. Understanding these factors helps in creating a targeted diet and lifestyle plan.

With fibromyalgia, you are either too tired to cook healthy or too sore to exercise, so weight gain is bound to happen, haha! It is a tough cycle, but we just have to laugh it off sometimes and do the best we can with a gentle walk.
