Does ferrous sulfate cause weight gain?

I was diagnosed with anemia and started taking ferrous sulfate tablets a few weeks ago. Since then, I feel like I've gained some weight. Is it possible for ferrous sulfate to cause weight gain as a side effect?

Honestly, ferrous sulfate tablets are very cheap, but don't just start them on your own to avoid side effects. Better to spend some money on a basic CBC and serum iron test first to see if you actually need it. Once you have the reports, a government hospital or local clinic doc can guide you without expensive consultation fees.

Ferrous sulfate generally doesn't cause weight gain, though it might make you feel a bit bloated or constipated. For mild low iron, I always prefer eating beetroot, spinach, and pomegranate daily. But if your hemoglobin is very low or you feel extremely weak, please consult a proper doctor instead of trying home remedies.

I took iron supplements for three months and didn't gain any weight, but yes, stomach upset and bloating is common which makes you feel heavy. Just drink lots of water and eat high-fiber food like oats and green veggies to keep digestion smooth. It is a simple, workable way to handle the side effects.

Same here, I had no weight gain at all with these tablets. Just make sure to take them with some vitamin C like nimbu paani for better absorption as my doctor suggested.

I panicked so much when my stomach felt bloated and scale showed 1 kg extra in the first week. But my doc reassured me it is just water retention and constipation from iron, not real fat. It went back to normal soon after my body adjusted, so don't worry.

Please don't worry about weight gain and skip your iron tablets if a doctor prescribed them. I ignored my low iron symptoms for a year thinking it's just normal fatigue, and my health became really bad. Get your blood checked regularly and follow the doctor's advice carefully.
