Does ezetimibe cause hair loss?

I've been on Ezetimibe for a few months now for my high cholesterol. My hair seems to be thinning more than usual lately, and I'm a bit worried. Is hair loss a known side effect of this particular medication?

As someone managing diabetes and high cholesterol, I take Ezetimibe daily. I haven't noticed any hair loss from it, but managing blood sugar levels is very important as high sugar itself can thin your hair. Make sure you are keeping a check on both.

My doctor just prescribed Ezetimibe to me yesterday and I am a bit scared about side effects. Does hair loss actually happen to a lot of people taking this, or is it very rare? I would appreciate any advice on what to expect.

Beta, at our age, hair fall is often just a natural part of getting older or stress. I have many friends who take cholesterol tablets like Ezetimibe, and none of them complained about losing hair because of it. Don't worry so much, just focus on a healthy lifestyle.

Sometimes we blame new medicines like Ezetimibe for hair loss, but it could actually be a thyroid imbalance. I experienced massive hair thinning before my thyroid was diagnosed. Please get your TSH levels and vitamins checked to find the real cause.

I was looking up the clinical trial data for Ezetimibe and hair loss is actually not listed as a common side effect. It seems extremely rare if it happens at all. Most doctors say any hair thinning is usually linked to the statins taken alongside it, not Ezetimibe itself.

I was on Ezetimibe for a few months to bring my lipid profile down. I can tell you my hair was completely fine during that whole time. Once my cholesterol stabilized and I stopped the medication, my hair remained just as healthy as before.
