Does estrogen therapy cause weight gain?

I'm considering estrogen therapy for some issues, but I've heard some people gain weight on it. Does estrogen therapy generally cause weight gain? I really don't want to put on extra kilos.

Estrogen therapy can sometimes increase your appetite or cause bloating. Focus on eating a light, fiber-rich vegetarian diet with lots of salads, sprouts, and curd to keep your digestion smooth and manage weight naturally.

Hormone changes can cause fluid retention in the body. Doing gentle yoga and basic breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom daily can help regulate your metabolism and reduce any feeling of heaviness.

I am about to start estrogen therapy next week and I am so scared of gaining weight. Has anyone else here actually gained a lot of fat from it, or is it just minor bloating? Please share your experience.

Honestly, between my late-night work shifts and double espresso shots, my weight is already a rollercoaster! The therapy might cause a little temporary water weight, but don't blame the hormones for everything.

My sister was worried about gaining weight on this therapy. While my aunt suggested some traditional herbs, we stuck strictly to her doctor's guidance and dietary advice, and her weight remained perfectly stable.

My doctor explained that estrogen therapy can cause some initial water retention which people often mistake for fat gain. She advised me to drink plenty of fluids, cut back on salt, and give my body 2-3 months to adjust.

It can cause mild bloating initially, but it won't make you gain actual fat if you stay active. Try to keep up with daily 40-minute walks and basic physical activity to keep your metabolic rate high.

Please monitor your body closely during this therapy. I experienced sudden swelling in my ankles and rapid weight gain which turned out to be severe fluid retention. Please report any such changes to your doctor immediately.

Hormone therapies and regular follow-up tests are quite costly. Before starting, factor in these ongoing expenses, and focus on simple home-cooked meals to keep your weight managed without spending on expensive supplements.

I panicked completely when I saw the scale go up by two kilos in my first week of therapy! But my doctor reassured me it was just water weight, and indeed, it disappeared completely by the second month. Just hold on.
