My doctor has recommended Estrogen HRT for me to help with my menopausal issues. I'm worried about potential side effects, particularly weight changes. Does estrogen HRT cause weight gain?

I went through HRT last year and had the same fear. Honestly, you might feel a bit bloated or notice water retention in the first few weeks, but it's not permanent fat. Just limit your salt, drink water, and keep walking daily.

HRT can change where your body stores fat, but it won't magically make you gain weight if you're in a calorie deficit. Focus on lifting light weights to keep your metabolism active and eat enough protein to counter any hormonal slowdown.

Hormones can definitely affect your appetite, making you crave sweet or salty things. I found that eating plenty of fiber like cucumbers, apples, and oats kept me full and prevented any weight gain during my therapy.
