Does entresto cause weight gain?

My mother is taking Entresto for her heart condition, and she's concerned about her weight. She feels she has gained some since starting the medication. Does Entresto cause weight gain?

Yes, sometimes people notice a change in weight. However, sudden weight gain with heart medicines can also mean fluid retention, so please keep a close watch on it.

I suggest logging your daily weight on a fitness app every morning. If you notice a sudden jump of 1-2 kgs in just a couple of days, it could be water retention, which is critical to report to your doctor immediately.

Don't get worried right away, but we must be careful with heart medications. If you feel any swelling in your ankles along with this weight gain, please contact your cardiologist. We are here for you, just take it step by step.

Even I have been feeling a bit bloated and noticed a slight increase in weight since starting Entresto. Has anyone else experienced this or did it settle down after some time? I'm getting a bit worried.

It is really hard when you are trying to recover and suddenly see the scale go up. I felt so down when my body changed on these meds. Just know that health recovery comes first, but do tell your doctor about this.

My dad is on Entresto and he actually put on some water weight initially. The doctor adjusted his water intake and diuretic dosage, and he was fine after that. Definitely get it checked by your physician.

While taking Entresto, physical activity needs to be mild and approved by your doctor. If they allow, light daily walks can help reduce fluid accumulation and keep your weight in check. Don't push too hard though.
