Does effexor cause weight gain?

I started taking Effexor a couple of months ago and feel like I'm gaining weight without changing my diet much. Is weight gain a common side effect of this medication? Just wondering if others have experienced this.

Yes, some people do experience weight gain on Effexor because it can increase your appetite or cravings. Since I manage my diabetes carefully, I have to watch my food intake closely and do regular blood sugar checks to ensure any medication changes don't affect my health.

Hey, don't stress too much about the weight gain right now. Your mental health and peace of mind are much more important. If you feel like your appetite is going up, just try to snack on healthy stuff and talk to your doctor about it.

My sister was taking this medicine and she did put on a little weight after a few months. But she started walking daily and eating simple home-cooked food, and her weight became normal again. Don't worry, just eat healthy.

Oh, Effexor definitely made me crave sweet things and midnight snacks way more than usual! I had to actively stock my fridge with fruits instead of chocolates to manage those extra cravings. It's all about balancing those food urges.

I had a sudden, major weight gain after starting Effexor, which also affected my metabolic health. Please don't try to manage this on your own or stop the medicine abruptly. Consult your doctor immediately so they can adjust your dosage or try an alternative.
