Does ectopic pregnancy show on pregnancy test?

I've done multiple home pregnancy tests, and they all show positive. However, I'm worried about an ectopic pregnancy because of some unusual pain. Even if it's ectopic, will it still show up as positive on a regular pregnancy test?

Yes, it does. Ectopic pregnancies still produce the hCG hormone, which is what home urine tests track. My wife's health app showed a positive test, but the doctor had to confirm the actual placement of the embryo via a pelvic ultrasound.

I am so tired I can barely see my screen, but yes, it shows up as positive. The test just checks for hormones, it doesn't have GPS to know where the baby is! Go get a proper scan done at a hospital.

I just went through this last month. Yes, my home pregnancy test was a strong positive. However, I started having sharp pain and spotting, and the scan showed it was in my fallopian tube. If you have a positive test but feel pain, please see a doctor immediately.

Yes, it shows as a normal positive on the test kit. Please take care of yourself and visit your doctor soon for an early scan to make sure everything is in the right place.

Yes, the test will be positive because of hCG hormone levels. Since an ectopic pregnancy cannot safely continue and is very dangerous, please go to a doctor for a proper scan if you suspect one. Do not rely solely on urine tests.
