Does drinking zero sugar soda cause weight gain?

I'm trying to cut down on sugar, so I've switched to zero sugar sodas. My friend told me these can still cause weight gain because of the artificial sweeteners. Is it true that drinking zero sugar soda can make you put on weight?

Honestly, diet soda has zero calories, but it always makes me crave salty snacks like chips or momos right after! So indirectly, it can cause weight gain if you don't control what you eat with it. The sweet taste just triggers my appetite.

I switched to zero sugar sodas last year during my weight loss journey. For me, it helped satisfy my sweet tooth without adding extra calories, and I didn't see any weight gain because of it. But everyone's body reacts differently to artificial sweeteners.

When I consulted the chief clinical nutritionist at Fortis Hospital, she advised me to limit diet sodas. She said artificial sweeteners can sometimes affect gut health and insulin response. It is best to ask your own doctor about how it fits your health goals.

Look, simple ghar ki baat hai—drinking these fancy sodas is an expensive habit anyway. Just switch to fresh nimbu paani or buttermilk with less salt. It is cheaper, healthier, and you won't have to worry about weight gain at all.

Actually, my doctor explained that while zero sugar sodas don't have calories, the sweet flavor can trick the brain into expecting sugar, which can lead to insulin spikes or increased food cravings later. Moderation is highly recommended.

In our youth, we only drank plain water, milk, or lassi, and we never had these weight issues. These artificial zero-sugar drinks are just processed chemicals. Avoid them if you can, and eat fresh, natural foods for a healthy life.

It is much better to drink coconut water or mint-infused water if you want something refreshing. If you are experiencing sudden, unexplained weight gain despite eating healthy, please see a doctor to check for thyroid or other issues.

Bro, don't stress too much about one can of diet coke! It won't make you gain 5 kgs overnight. Just keep your overall daily calories in check and you are good to go, chill!

The scientific consensus on artificial sweeteners and weight gain is still debated. Some people find it useful for calorie cutting, while others experience metabolic changes. Consulting a certified nutritionist is the best way to plan your diet.

It is completely fine to have it occasionally when you want a treat. Just try to focus on fresh juices or water most of the time to keep your body healthy and happy.
