Does drinking water help stomach pain?

Sometimes I get mild stomach pain, especially after eating something a bit heavy. My usual go-to is to drink a glass of water. Can drinking water really help ease stomach pain or settle an upset stomach?

If your stomach pain is due to simple gas or constipation, drinking warm water and taking a gentle 15-minute walk can help move things along. But if the pain is sharp and sudden, stop everything and rest. Never force exercise or heavy movement if your body is in severe pain.

Drinking warm water can help soothe mild stomach cramps caused by acidity or a heavy vegetarian meal. However, avoid cold water as it can contract the stomach muscles and make the pain worse. It is best to eat simple khichdi and keep your hydration warm until your stomach recovers.

For diabetics, sudden stomach pain can sometimes be linked to high blood sugar levels or gastroparesis. Drinking water helps flush out toxins and keeps you hydrated, but you must check your blood sugar levels immediately. If your readings are abnormal, contact your doctor instead of treating it as simple gas.

Look, if the stomach pain is just from overeating or mild gas, warm water will help clear it up easily. But if it is severe pain, vomiting, or you can't even stand up, don't sit around drinking water hoping for a miracle. Go see a doctor immediately, don't be careless.

Water is a great first step for basic acidity pain and costs nothing. But if you have persistent stomach pain for more than two days, please budget around 1200 rupees for an abdominal ultrasound. Getting a timely test prevents massive emergency hospital expenses if it turns out to be an infection or appendix issue.
