Does drinking kefir cause weight gain?

Recently, I started adding kefir to my diet for its gut health benefits. While it's supposed to be very good for you, I'm also trying to manage my weight and noticed it has some calories. Can drinking kefir regularly actually lead to weight gain?

I started taking kefir for my gut health as part of my BP control routine. It doesn't cause weight gain by itself if you maintain an active lifestyle and do regular checkups. Just make sure you are not buying the heavily sweetened, flavored ones from the market.

Honestly, I can only speak for myself but kefir actually helped me feel less bloated and lighter. I have been drinking one small cup of home-made kefir daily for six months and my weight has remained exactly the same.

Beta, kefir is just like our traditional buttermilk or dahi, but with different good bacteria. In our old days, we always believed fermented foods keep the stomach cool and healthy, which keeps the body weight in check naturally. Just drink it in the morning hours, not late at night.

I totally get it, when we try something new we always worry if it will mess up our weight. But kefir is mostly protein and probiotics, so it actually keeps you full for longer. Try to make it at home if possible to avoid extra chemicals.

Listen, don't stress too much about kefir making you gain weight! It's super good for your gut. Just watch out for the calories in the flavored ones, otherwise, your daily plain glass is totally fine and healthy.

I did some reading on this because I had the same question. My doctor told me that plain kefir has around 100-130 calories per cup, which is very safe. He mentioned it only causes weight gain if you are eating in a calorie surplus overall, so just balance your daily diet.

Humare yahan toh dahi aur lassi roz peete hain aur sab tandurust rehte hain. Kefir bhi dahi jaisa hi hai, isse koi motapa nahi aata agar aap mehnat aur thoda chalna-phirna rakhein ghar pe. Khushi se pijiye, pet ke liye bahut accha hai.
