Does drinking coffee on an empty stomach cause weight gain?

I usually have my first cup of coffee right after waking up, on an empty stomach. I recently heard a nutritionist say that drinking coffee this way can cause weight gain. Is this true, or is it just a myth?

No, it doesn't. Weight gain is purely about calories in versus calories out. Black coffee has zero calories, so empty stomach or not, it won't make you fat. Just watch out for acidity issues.

I don't think it causes weight gain directly, but drinking it empty stomach sometimes gives me crazy acidity! And then I end up eating heavy biscuits or toast to calm my stomach. So indirectly, yes, it can make you eat more.

I used to worry about this so much because I heard it increases cortisol which leads to belly fat. It made me so anxious! But after reading a lot, it seems it only causes a tiny spike that doesn't really cause weight gain. Just listen to your body.

From a wellness perspective, having strong stimulants like coffee on an empty stomach can disturb the digestive fire and create vata imbalance. It may not directly cause weight gain, but keeping your digestive tract happy is essential for overall health.

Khali pet coffee peene se vajan toh nahi badhta, par pet mein jalan zaroor ho sakti hai. Hamesha achha hoga ki subah pehle thoda paani pee lein, uske baad hi apni coffee ya chai ka lutf uthayein.
