Does drinking alcohol help tooth pain?

My toothache has been quite bad since last night, and I can't get an appointment with the dentist until tomorrow. Someone suggested gargling with alcohol to numb the pain. Does this actually work, or is it just an old wives' tale?

Absolutely not. Drinking might numb the pain temporarily because it dulls your nervous system, but it will not cure the infection. Save your time and schedule a quick 15-minute dental appointment before the pain gets worse.

Do not waste money on expensive alcohol trying to cure tooth pain; it won't work and can worsen the decay. A simple saline gargle with warm water costs nothing and helps soothe the area temporarily until you can visit a local dentist.

My dentist clearly explained that applying alcohol to a painful tooth can burn the delicate gum tissues and cause chemical burns. It does not treat the underlying root infection or cavity. It is crucial to get a professional dental checkup instead of trying this.

Applying alcohol to a toothache is an outdated hack that can ruin your oral microbiome and irritate your gums. Track your symptoms and use a dental care app to find an emergency clinic nearby. Professional treatment is the only real fix.

Please don't believe these dangerous internet myths about using alcohol for toothaches. Alcohol will only dehydrate your mouth and can cause chemical injury to your gums. Verify this with a qualified dentist who can actually treat the cavity.

Hey, please don't use alcohol on your tooth, it will only cause more irritation to your sensitive gums. Try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water for temporary relief, and book a dentist appointment as soon as possible. Take care of yourself.
