Does doxycycline cause hair loss?

I'm taking Doxycycline for my acne, and I've noticed my hair thinning a bit recently. I'm very concerned about it. Can Doxycycline actually cause hair loss?

I can totally understand the panic when you start seeing more hair on your brush while taking a medicine. It is incredibly stressful and makes you want to cry. But don't worry, once the antibiotic course is over, your body usually recovers quickly.

I was actually reading about doxycycline side effects yesterday because my dermatologist prescribed it for my acne. Hair loss seems to be a very rare side effect, mostly happening due to the stress of the underlying infection rather than the medicine itself. Hope this helps!

Bhai, humne toh kabhi aisa nahi suna ki isse baal jhadte hain. Aap chinta mat kijiye, acche se khana-peena kijiye, dahi aur hari sabzi khayiye. Shareer mein takat rahegi toh baal apne aap theek rahenge.

Actually yaar, I took doxycycline for my skin issue last year and didn't face any hair loss. Don't stress too much about it, sometimes our hair falls just because of stress or weather changes in Mumbai. Just complete the doctor's course.

If you are worried about hair fall during your medicine course, you can try applying mild onion juice or lukewarm coconut oil with curry leaves once a week. It keeps the scalp healthy and cool. Don't worry, the hair usually grows back once the medicine stops.

I always go to Manipal Hospital for any health concerns, and my doctor there clearly told me that temporary hair shedding can happen after any major illness or strong antibiotic course. It is called telogen effluvium. Please consult your physician to be absolutely sure.
