Does diclofenac cause weight gain?

I've been taking diclofenac for my knee pain for a while now, and I feel like I've put on a few kilos. Could this medicine be the reason? Does diclofenac cause weight gain as a side effect?

I was looking this up and apparently diclofenac doesn't cause actual fat gain. Any sudden weight change is usually just water retention or mild swelling in the body, which is a known side effect of pain relievers.

Only if you count the weight of the water your body is holding onto! Don't worry, it's not going to make you gain fat overnight unless you are eating extra parathas with it.

My roommate took it for a sprained ankle and noticed some bloating, but his weight went back to normal once he stopped the medicine. It's just temporary puffiness, nothing to stress about.

Since I have PCOS, I am always worried about fluid retention. Diclofenac can sometimes cause mild bloating, but it is best to check with your doctor if you notice persistent swelling.

It might cause a little water retention, but the real weight culprit is usually us eating comfort food while resting a painful joint! Keep your snacks light and you'll be fine.

It is just temporary fluid retention, nothing serious. Just stay hydrated and avoid sitting in one place for too long to keep the blood circulation going.

I'm already bloated from zero sleep, so a little more water weight from a pill doesn't bother me much. It's just fluid retention, don't sweat it.

Don't worry too much about this. It is a very common painkiller and any minor weight increase is just water weight that goes away soon. Just focus on recovering from your pain right now.

For people with BP issues like me, painkillers can cause water retention and sometimes affect blood pressure. Keep an eye on your salt intake and get regular checkups while taking it.

I completely understand why you are worried about this, as unexpected weight changes can be really stressful. But rest assured, diclofenac only causes temporary water bloating and not actual fat.

While mild water retention is common with painkillers, any sudden or significant weight gain should be reported to your doctor to ensure your kidneys are functioning properly.

I felt so bad when my face looked bloated after taking these medicines, but it was just fluid. It is really hard emotionally when your body changes, but please know it is just temporary.

It can cause some swelling in the feet due to water holding. Drink warm water and cut down on extra salt in your food to help reduce this bloating naturally.

I totally get it, seeing the scale go up when you are already in pain is so frustrating. Just remember it is only water retention from the medicine and will go away once you finish the course.
