Does diazepam cause weight gain?

My doctor prescribed diazepam for my anxiety, and I've started taking it recently. I'm quite conscious about my weight, so I wanted to ask if this medication can cause weight gain. I hope it doesn't.

These modern medicines can sometimes slow down your digestion and cause heaviness. Try drinking warm fennel water in the morning and avoid heavy foods, but do not stop any medicine without asking your doctor.

I noticed significant bloating and weight changes when I was on sedative medications. It can affect your system, so please speak to your prescribing doctor about these side effects instead of managing it yourself.

Sometimes increased appetite or lethargy from the medication can lead to weight gain. I would suggest focusing on high-fiber vegetarian meals and keeping healthy snacks like roasted makhana nearby.

If your doctor permits, try to schedule a 30-minute brisk walk daily to counter the lethargy from the medicine. Staying physically active is the best way to prevent any medication-induced weight gain.

Honestly, if it actually helps me sleep, I wouldn't mind gaining a little weight. But yes, since it slows you down, minor weight gain can happen.

Along with my BP medications, I have to be very careful with other prescriptions. Weight changes can happen if a medicine makes you less active, so regular health checkups and monitoring are very important.

It can make you feel a bit sleepy and slow down your metabolism, which might lead to minor weight changes! Just stay active and eat fresh fruits to keep things balanced. 😊

Any change in the body is just temporary. Keep a positive mind, do simple breathing exercises daily, and take care of your health with calm thoughts.

This medicine relaxes you so much that even your metabolism goes on a holiday! I definitely felt a bit sluggish and gained a couple of kilos while taking it.
