Does diastasis recti cause weight gain?

After my second delivery, I developed diastasis recti, and despite trying exercises, my tummy still looks bulgy. I'm also finding it hard to lose weight around my midsection. Can diastasis recti actually cause weight gain, or is it just making it harder to lose weight?

My cousin had this after her pregnancy and she actually didn't gain weight, her belly just looked bloated and sticking out because of the muscle gap. It is more about muscle separation than actual fat.

Don't stress too much about the weight scale! Diastasis recti is just the separation of your core muscles, usually after babies. It doesn't add fat to your body, it just changes how your belly looks, which is totally normal.

In our days, we used to tie a cotton cloth tightly around the abdomen after delivery to support these muscles. It is not fat or weight gain, just the stomach wall becoming weak. Please do light postpartum exercises gently.

Actually yaar, it doesn't cause weight gain at all. It just makes your tummy look like a pouch because the abdominal muscles have separated. People often mistake that bulge for fat, but it's not.

No, it doesn't cause weight gain. It is a structural issue where the rectus abdominis muscles separate. Doing targeted core exercises, avoiding heavy crunches, and eating a clean diet will help heal the gap and flatten the tummy.
