Does dandruff stop hair from growing?

I've been dealing with dandruff for a few months now, and I also feel like my hair isn't growing as fast or as thick as it used to. Does having dandruff actually affect hair growth, or is it just an old wives' tale that it can stop it?

I used to panic so much thinking my hair had stopped growing forever because of my dandruff. But my dermatologist reassured me that dandruff doesn't stop the actual growth process. Once I cleared my scalp infection, my hair started growing normally again, so relax, it is not permanent.

I agree with this, it doesn't stop growth entirely. It just weakens the roots thoda, so focusing on keeping your scalp clean is the best way to keep your hair growing well.

Please don't trust those random internet remedies claiming onion juice or ginger will cure dandruff and make hair grow like magic. Most of those just irritate your scalp further. Go verify with a proper skin doctor who can give you medically proven treatment.

Dandruff itself doesn't stop growth, but the stress and constant itching can disturb your hair follicles. I suggest practicing simple deep breathing and head-down yoga poses like Adho Mukha Svanasana to improve blood circulation to the head. This gently supports natural hair growth.

It doesn't stop growth, but a bad scalp can definitely make your hair look lifeless and thin. I noticed my scalp gets super flaky when I eat too many sweets and oily parathas. Balance your treats with good green leafy veggies, and your hair will grow beautifully!

Honestly, at 50, I'm just happy to have hair left, dandruff or no dandruff! It doesn't stop growth, but scratching like a monkey surely breaks the hair. Just use a decent shampoo and stop worrying so much about hair length.
