Does dandruff shampoo remove hair dye?

My hair dye is quite new, and I've suddenly got an itchy scalp with flakes, so I think it's dandruff. I need to use a dandruff shampoo, but I'm scared it will make my hair color fade away fast and ruin my look. Does dandruff shampoo tend to remove hair dye?

It definitely fades the dye because of the strong clarifying agents. To keep both your scalp healthy and dye intact, try focusing on a diet rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, like amla, which naturally strengthens hair pigmentation. Strong chemical products are best avoided as much as possible.

I just dyed my hair black to cover some grays, but my scalp is starting to itch from dandruff. Will using an anti-dandruff shampoo wash out my new hair dye completely, or is there a way to use it safely without ruining the color? I'm really scared of ruining my hair.

Yes, it does fade the dye, which means you'll have to dye it again sooner and spend double the money. Instead of wasting money on frequent dye touch-ups and expensive hair treatments, it is more practical to invest in a budget-friendly dermatologist consult once to fix the dandruff permanently.

It does strip the artificial color quite fast, my dear. But do not worry too much about these external things; just focus on keeping your mind calm and your body healthy. Take care of your scalp with gentle care, and let nature do its work.

I can only speak from my own experience, but whenever I used a zinc-based dandruff shampoo, my hair dye faded within three washes. It didn't remove it 100%, but it made it look very dull. Now I only use it when my dandruff gets really bad.
