Does dandruff cause greasy hair?

My hair gets super greasy very quickly, and I also have persistent dandruff issues. I'm always confused which came first or if they are connected in some way. Does having dandruff make your hair more greasy, or are they usually separate issues?

Actually, it is often the other way around. Excess oil production on the scalp creates a breeding ground for the fungus that causes dandruff. If you are struggling with a very greasy scalp and flakes, consulting a dermatologist is the best approach.

An oily scalp and dandruff are signs of imbalance in the body, often related to heat and diet. Regularly washing your hair with mild natural cleansers like shikakai and practicing cooling pranayama can help restore balance gently.

In my experience, greasy hair and dandruff always go hand in hand. People make the mistake of adding more mustard oil to dry it out, which makes it stickier. Just keep the scalp clean and washed.

My teenage son had this exact problem where his hair looked super oily and had sticky yellow flakes. We had to stop putting heavy hair oil and started using a doctor-recommended clarifying shampoo twice a week.

I know how frustrating greasy hair is. It feels like you wash it and it gets oily the very next day. Try washing with lukewarm water and a little apple cider vinegar rinse, it really helps balance the scalp grease.
