Does creatine cause weight gain?

I just started taking creatine about a month ago, and I've noticed my weight has gone up a little bit. Is this normal? Does creatine cause weight gain, maybe mostly water retention?

Haan, it does scale up your weight a bit, but don't worry, it's not fat. It just pulls water into your muscles, making them look fuller. Honestly, my food cravings are still my biggest weight gain enemy, not creatine!

Please monitor your body closely. I once ignored sudden weight gain thinking it was just water retention, but it turned out to be a thyroid issue that got worse because I delayed my checkup. If the weight gain feels sudden or weird, go see a doctor immediately.

I completely understand how stressful it is to see the scale go up when you're trying so hard. It really messed with my head when I first started creatine. Just remind yourself that it is only temporary water weight inside the muscle, not actual fat.

Let's be clear: creatine causes water retention in the muscle cells, which shows up as 1-2 kgs on the scale. It is not fat gain. If you are training hard, this is actually good for your strength and recovery.

As someone managing high blood pressure, I always keep an eye on water retention and weight. Creatine can cause some initial water gain, which might slightly affect BP in some people. Always consult your doctor and monitor your vitals regularly.

In my younger days, we used to worry about every single kilo we gained on supplements. With age, I realized that minor weight fluctuations are very normal. Don't stress over a little water weight from creatine; focus on your strength instead.
