Does cradle cap cause hair loss in babies?

My baby has cradle cap, and I'm a bit worried because his hair seems thinner in those areas. My grandmother said not to worry, but I'm still anxious. Does cradle cap cause hair loss in babies, or will it grow back?

As a nurse, I see this all the time. Cradle cap does not cause permanent hair loss in babies, though some hair might shed along with the crusty flakes. Just use a mild baby shampoo and never scratch or peel the flakes with your nails.

I remember worrying about this when my kids were small. It doesn't cause long-term hair loss, so don't let the stress raise your blood pressure! Just get a routine pediatric checkup done to confirm everything is fine.

Listen, cradle cap is very common and the baby's hair will grow back completely fine. Stop scratching it forcefully trying to clean it in one day. Just be patient and let it heal naturally.

My mother-in-law suggested applying a little warm coconut oil before the baby's bath, which really helped loosen the cradle cap. Our doctor also confirmed this is safe and won't cause hair loss as long as we are gentle.

My daughter's cradle cap got red and started weeping because I tried to scrub it off, and she lost a bit of hair there. I had to run to the doctor for an antibiotic cream. Please don't pick at it, just consult your doctor if it looks red.

With my infant, some hair did fall out with the dry flakes, but it all grew back beautifully within a couple of months. It is just a phase, so don't worry too much about it.

Oh God, I panicked so much when I saw flakes on my baby's head, thinking she would lose all her hair! But it's actually super common and didn't cause any bald patches. Sending you lots of strength, you are doing great!

It doesn't cause any permanent hair damage. Just like we focus on clean recovery after workouts, a baby's scalp just needs gentle, clean care. Keep it simple and let nature do its job.

Cradle cap is harmless and temporary hair shedding is the only risk if the crusts are disturbed. For peace of mind and proper care instructions, speaking with a qualified pediatrician is always the best approach.

When my son had this, we visited the pediatrician at Apollo. He clearly told us not to worry about hair loss and prescribed a very mild baby wash. Always ask your doctor directly instead of trying random remedies.
