Does chemotherapy always cause hair loss?

My cousin is going for chemotherapy for her cancer. She's really sad thinking about losing her hair. Does chemotherapy always result in hair loss for every patient, or is it different for everyone?

No, it doesn't always happen because it depends entirely on the type of chemo drugs you get. While nutrition cannot stop chemo-induced hair loss, eating a well-balanced diet rich in vitamins and protein can help your body recover faster. Always consult your dietician for a proper meal plan during therapy.

No, it is not guaranteed to happen every time. Even if it does, please remember it is just a temporary phase and your beautiful hair will return. Take care and stay strong.

It definitely doesn't happen to everyone, but if you do start losing hair and your scalp becomes very red, itchy, or painful, don't ignore it. I had a bad scalp infection during my treatment that needed medical attention. Please let your doctor know about any scalp changes.

Actually, some chemo drugs don't cause any hair fall at all, or just very mild thinning! It really depends on what cocktail the doctor prescribes. If you are worried, you can ask your doc if your specific drugs are the ones that cause shedding, so you can prepare mentally.

Not always, no. Some of my gym buddies who went through treatment kept most of their hair. The best thing you can do is focus on staying active with light walks and keeping your overall physical health as high as possible. Let the body focus its energy on healing.

It is not a 100% thing, it varies widely based on the chemical compounds used in your cycles. I suggest tracking all your daily symptoms on an app or keeping a simple log. It helps you share accurate details with your doctor during your weekly checkups.

No, some targeted therapies and specific chemo drugs have zero impact on hair. Don't assume the worst beforehand. Just ask your oncologist directly about the side effects of your specific regimen so you can plan your work schedule and life accordingly.
