Does carpal tunnel syndrome go away after pregnancy?

Since my second trimester, I've had numbness and pain in my hands, and the doctor diagnosed carpal tunnel syndrome. It's really affecting my daily tasks. Does carpal tunnel syndrome usually go away after pregnancy, or should I be worried?

Hey, don't stress too much about this! Your body is dealing with a lot of extra fluid right now, which is squeezing those wrist nerves. Once your baby arrives and your hormones settle down, the swelling and pain almost always vanish.

My daughter went through this exact same thing during her pregnancy last year, and she couldn't even hold a cup properly. We got her some simple wrist splints to wear at night, and within a month of giving birth, she was completely back to normal.

Yes, absolutely! It usually disappears as your body loses the pregnancy weight and water retention. Just keep resting those hands and try to avoid sleeping on them, it will get much better very soon!

While you wait for your body to heal post-delivery, try reducing extra sodium and salt in your diet to help bring down the fluid retention. Staying hydrated with fresh coconut water also helps. Once the swelling goes, the nerve pressure naturally clears up.

My family elder sisters used to say that postpartum herbal oil massages would cure this hand pain, but our family doctor explained it is simply pregnancy fluid retention. Once delivery happens, the swelling goes away naturally. Please follow your gynecologist's advice on this.
