Does carbonated water cause kidney stones?

My uncle suffers from kidney stones, and he blames fizzy drinks. I love having sparkling water with my meals. Can carbonated water actually cause kidney stones?

I have been drinking sparkling water daily and recently got a mild pain in my back, which has me so worried. Has anyone else actually developed kidney stones from drinking too much carbonated water, or is it just a myth?

My college-going son developed a small kidney stone because he stopped drinking regular water and only wanted fizzy drinks. Our doctor said plain carbonated water is okay, but pure simple water is absolutely essential to flush out the system.

Honestly, I drink soda just to stay awake through my night shifts. If carbonated water caused kidney stones, half of my IT department would be in the hospital by now, so I think we are mostly safe.

I love pairing club soda with my heavy biryanis, and thankfully, plain carbonated water doesn't cause stones. Just avoid the dark colas which are packed with chemicals, and keep enjoying your fizzy drinks.

Plain carbonated water is perfectly fine for your kidneys. The main culprit for stones is dehydration and dark sodas containing phosphates, so just drink plenty of normal water alongside your sparkling water.

No, plain carbonated water doesn't cause kidney stones, but colas with phosphoric acid definitely can increase the risk.

These artificial fizzy waters are not good for the stomach or kidneys. It is much better to drink barley water or fresh coconut water to keep your kidneys clean and prevent any stone formation naturally.
