Does burnt food give you cancer?

My wife often burns the rotis a bit too much, and then we have this argument about whether it's safe to eat. My grandmother used to say eating burnt food was bad. Does burnt food actually give you cancer, or is it okay occasionally?

Don't worry too much about this. While burnt food contains compounds like acrylamide which are linked to cancer in huge laboratory doses, a little charred tandoori roti or burnt toast once in a while won't harm you. Just make it a habit to cut off the heavily blackened parts before eating.

I get so scared even if my toast is a little bit dark because I read about acrylamide and cancer risk. But honestly, from what I've researched, eating slightly burnt food once in a while has a very small risk, so we shouldn't panic. Still, it is probably safer to scrape off the black parts just to be at peace.

In Ayurveda, we believe that food should be fresh and cooked gently to keep its 'prana' or life force alive. Burnt food loses its nutritional value and creates excess toxins in the body, which isn't good for long-term health. While it may not directly cause cancer immediately, it is always better to eat freshly and properly cooked meals.

Look, eating one burnt toast or a slightly charred paneer tikka is not going to give you cancer. The internet just loves to blow things out of proportion to scare people. Just don't make it a daily habit to eat carbonized food and you'll be perfectly fine.

Arrey yaar, bilkul nahi! Hum log toh tandoori rotis thodi jali hui hi khate hain na, swaad lagta hai. Occasional jala hua khaane se kuch nahi hota. Haan, roz-roz mat khao jala hua khana, par kabhi-kabhi chalta hai, chill karo!
