Does building muscle cause weight gain?

I recently started hitting the gym and my trainer said focusing on strength training will help me build muscle. I'm aiming for a fitter, stronger body, but I'm also conscious about my overall weight. Does building muscle necessarily mean I'll see an increase on the weighing scale?

Yes, muscle is dense tissue, so when you start building it, the scale might go up even though you are looking leaner. If your doctor allows regular exercise, focusing on progressive strength training and walking daily is great for body composition, regardless of what the weighing scale says.

My sports physician explained that muscle tissue is much denser than fat. When you build muscle, your body also stores more glycogen and water in the muscle cells, which can show as weight gain on the scale. He advised focusing on body fat percentage rather than total body weight.

When you have thyroid issues, your metabolism is already slow, so seeing the scale go up can be very demotivating. However, building muscle actually helps boost your metabolic rate over time. Just make sure to get your thyroid tests done regularly and work closely with your doctor.

Bro, I started hitting the gym and gained 3 kgs in two months, but my jeans actually fit looser now! It is just muscle weight and water retention. Don't worry about the scale, just look in the mirror.

I just started home workouts and noticed my weight increased by one kilo, which made me a bit sad. Is this normal? Does it mean I am doing something wrong, or is it really just muscle growth?

Yes, building muscle can increase your weight, but it is healthy weight. Instead of buying expensive body fat scales, you can just track your waist measurements with a cheap tape at home. It is a very practical way to see if you are losing fat while gaining muscle.

I got so anxious when my weight jumped after starting workouts, I thought I was eating too much. But then I read that muscles hold water to repair themselves, which makes so much sense. Don't worry, our bodies are just adjusting to the new routine.

Beta, taakat badhne se thoda vajan toh badhta hi hai. Hamare ghar ke bache jab akhada jaate hain toh acche dikhte hain par vajan zyada hota hai. Yeh toh sehatmand hone ki nishani hai, chinta mat karo.

During my fitness assessment at the hospital wellness center, the specialist showed me how my skeletal muscle mass had increased. He told me that this type of weight gain is highly beneficial for bone density and heart health. You can ask your doctor to do a proper body composition analysis.

I went through this exact same confusion last year when I started lifting weights. My weight went up by 2 kgs but my body fat dropped by 4%. Trust the process, your body is just becoming tighter and healthier.

I used to be obsessed with being 50 kgs, but after I started strength training, I went up to 53 kgs and actually look much fitter and toned now. Muscle takes up less space than fat, so don't let the scale fool you!

Haan bilkul, muscle badhne se weight toh badhega hi na. Par woh 'good weight' hota hai, fat nahi. Isliye scale ki chinta chhodo aur apni strength aur energy levels par dhyan do.
