Does berberine affect thyroid medication?

On daily medication for my thyroid, I'm worried about potential interactions with berberine, which a friend suggested. Can berberine affect how my thyroid medication works?

Actually yaar, berberine can interfere with how your liver processes medications, which might affect your thyroid dose absorption. It is better not to mix them randomly. Just have a chat with your doctor first to be safe.

I get so anxious about drug interactions! Since thyroid medication has to be taken on an empty stomach with zero interference, adding berberine sounds a bit risky to do on your own. Please ask your doctor first so you don't mess up your hormone levels.

I take meds for both diabetes and thyroid, and my doctor told me that even natural supplements can alter how blood sugar and thyroid medications work together. Do not self-prescribe berberine if you are already on daily thyroid pills.

If you are taking thyroid meds, your metabolism is already being regulated by that prescription. Adding berberine might complicate things unnecessarily. Stick to a solid exercise routine and clean diet instead of risking a medication clash.

Thyroid medications like thyroxine have a very narrow therapeutic index. Any strong supplement like berberine can alter absorption rates in the gut. I'd track my symptoms closely and consult an endocrinologist before combining them.
