Does bathing in hot water cause hair loss?

I love taking long, hot showers, especially in winter, it's so relaxing. But I've noticed my hair fall has increased lately, and someone told me that hot water can cause hair loss. Is there any truth to this, or is it just a myth?

Extremely hot water can strip the natural oils from your scalp, making hair brittle and prone to breakage. However, it doesn't cause clinical hair loss from the roots. For persistent hair fall, it is best to consult a dermatologist to check for nutritional deficiencies.

Beta, in our days we always washed our hair with normal or lukewarm water, never hot. Very hot water makes the hair roots weak and dry. Try using cooler water for your head and you will see a difference in your hair strength.

While hot water can make your hair dry and brittle, real hair loss usually comes from within. Ensure you are getting enough protein through chana, paneer, and almonds in your vegetarian diet. Good nutrition keeps the roots strong even if you use warm water occasionally.

I used to take steaming hot showers and my hair became like straw and started breaking. I changed two things: only lukewarm water for hair, and a mild sulfate-free shampoo. My hair fall stopped significantly within a month, try it out.

Hey, don't stress too much about this. Just switch to lukewarm water instead of steaming hot water for your hair washes. Also, try a gentle head massage with some warm coconut oil once a week, it really helps!
