Does ashwagandha work for weight loss?

I've been trying various methods for weight loss, and someone at my gym told me to try ashwagandha. They said it really helps shed weight. Does ashwagandha actually work for weight loss or is it just another fad?

I researched this extensively and my general physician confirmed that ashwagandha only aids weight loss indirectly by lowering cortisol, which reduces stress-induced binge eating. There is no thermogenic property in it to burn fat directly. You still need a calorie deficit and proper exercise.

To be honest, spending thousands on fancy ashwagandha capsules is not worth it for weight loss. Instead, plan your budget and spend 500 rupees on a basic thyroid and HbA1c test to see if there is an underlying issue. Walking daily is free and works much better than any supplement.

If you are planning to take ashwagandha for weight loss, please check your health status first. Sometimes weight gain is due to thyroid issues, and ashwagandha can affect your thyroid hormone levels. It is always safest to consult a doctor before starting any hormonal herb.

I've been taking ashwagandha for a week hoping to lose weight, but I feel my appetite has actually increased instead of decreasing! Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just my anxiety making me eat more? I'm a bit worried now.

I just went through a major weight loss journey after struggling with stress-related weight gain. Ashwagandha helped calm my mind and improved my sleep, which finally helped me stop late-night snacking. But the real weight loss happened because of portion control and daily workouts.

Let's be very clear: ashwagandha is not a fat burner. It will only help you stay calm. If you want to lose weight, you have to sweat it out and stop eating junk food. Don't look for easy shortcuts.

I panicked when I didn't lose any weight in the first month of taking ashwagandha and thought it was useless. But then I realized it was slowly fixing my sleep and anxiety first, which eventually made my fitness routine much easier. Give it some time to work on your stress levels first.
