Does ashwagandha damage liver?

My fitness trainer recommended ashwagandha for improved stamina. However, my cousin mentioned that some ayurvedic supplements might sometimes be heavy on the liver. Does ashwagandha actually damage the liver if taken regularly?

My father always tells me to use traditional herbs with great respect and in tiny quantities. While ashwagandha is generally safe, our family physician warned us that modern highly concentrated extracts can stress the liver if overused. It is always wise to take professional advice rather than self-medicating.

Please be very careful with this. I took high-potency ashwagandha capsules for stress last year and ended up with elevated liver enzymes during my routine blood work. Luckily, they came back to normal once I stopped, but I strongly advise getting regular liver function tests if you plan to use it.

With all the butter chicken and heavy food I eat, my liver already works overtime! I was looking at ashwagandha for energy, but after reading that high doses might cause liver strain, I decided to stick to plain ginger tea. Let's not give our poor livers more work than they already have!

In rare cases, high doses of ashwagandha can cause liver injury, so moderation and doctor's advice are essential.

People blindly buy these 'herb' capsules online thinking they are magic pills with zero side effects. The truth is, unregulated herbal supplements can contain heavy metals or extreme dosages that severely affect liver function. Do not trust random internet trends and verify with a qualified hepatologist first.

I have been active on health forums for a while and have seen this debate. Ashwagandha is usually safe for most people when taken in traditional raw powder form in small doses. The liver risks mostly happen with extremely high dosages or low-quality brands, so always buy certified products and take breaks between courses.

I completely understand why you are worried about this, health scares can really ruin your peace of mind. It's so scary to read that even natural supplements can have side effects. Just breathe, stop taking it for a few days if you feel uneasy, and have a calm chat with your doctor to clear your doubts.
