Does artificial sugar cause weight gain?

I'm trying to lose weight and have replaced regular sugar with artificial sugar in my drinks and desserts. Someone told me that instead of helping, it can actually cause weight gain. Is this possible?

I went through this when I started my weight loss journey. Artificial sugars don't have calories, so they won't directly make you gain weight, but they can trick your brain into craving more actual sweets later. My advice is to use them to transition, but slowly train your tastebuds to enjoy less sweetness overall.

I completely understand why you are worried about this, health tracking can make anyone anxious. It is very natural to feel confused with all the conflicting advice online about sweetners. Just take it easy and don't stress; small amounts of diet mixers once in a while won't ruin your fitness progress.

From a scientific perspective, artificial sweeteners are calorie-free, but clinical studies on their long-term effect on metabolism are still mixed. If you are struggling with unexplained weight gain despite a clean diet, it's always best to consult a certified clinical nutritionist or endocrinologist rather than guessing.

Instead of spending so much money on expensive imported sugar-free drops, it's better to plan your budget. I realized that keeping a basic check on total daily calories is free and actually works. Spend that saved money on a yearly health checkup pack to monitor your sugar levels properly.

With my PCOS, I have to be extremely careful with anything sweet, even artificial ones, as they can sometimes affect gut health and insulin response. What works for one person might not work for you, so I would suggest monitoring how your body reacts to them. Don't rush into replacing everything with sweeteners.

I tried all sorts of sugar-free tablets for my family but found that they sometimes messed with digestion and made us feel hungrier. What really worked for us was using a pinch of cardamom or fennel seeds to naturally sweeten milk. Try these simple kitchen remedies first before relying on artificial powders.
