Does arthritis spread in the body?

My doctor diagnosed me with arthritis in my hands a few years ago, and I managed it with medication. Now, I'm feeling stiffness in my hips and lower back, and I'm worried it's spreading throughout my body. Is it common for arthritis to spread this way?

Beta, it does not spread like an infection from one person to another. However, as age increases, more than one joint can start aching. Keep warm and always follow your doctor's medical advice for your knees and hands.

Certain inflammatory types can involve multiple joints over time. Since I have diabetes, I always keep my diet clean and blood sugar controlled, as high inflammation can affect the entire body. Do consult your physician regularly.

It feels like my joints are having a gossip session and deciding to ache one by one! But don't worry, it doesn't jump around like a virus. It is just the chronic nature of the condition, completely manageable with proper meds.

Yes, my aunt's pain started in her hands and gradually her feet also started hurting. We got her some soft, comfortable footwear and adjusted her kitchen height to reduce joint strain. Little practical changes help a lot!

It doesn't spread like a disease, but weak muscle support can lead to extra wear on neighboring joints. That's why keeping your core and limbs strong through basic resistance exercises is super important to protect your whole skeleton.

First it was my left knee, then my right knee, and now my lower back wants to join the party too! It is just our body's way of reminding us we aren't twenty anymore. Keep laughing and keep moving slowly.

It is important to understand that systemic types of arthritis, like rheumatoid, can affect different joint groups sequentially due to an immune response. A rheumatologist's tailored treatment is essential to control this progression.
