Does anti dandruff shampoo help with hair loss?

Dealing with both dandruff and noticeable hair loss for the past few months has been tough. My friend suggested trying an anti-dandruff shampoo. Can this type of shampoo actually help in reducing hair loss?

I was losing so much hair because of severe seborrheic dermatitis. My doctor gave me a ketoconazole shampoo, and once the dandruff cleared, my hair fall stopped completely. So yes, it helps, but only if your hair loss is happening because of dandruff buildup.

Shampoo only cleanses from the outside, but real hair health comes from within. Along with a mild scalp cleanser, try doing Balayam and Kapalbhati daily to improve blood circulation to your hair roots. It helped me immensely with my hair thinning.

Dekho boss, simple baat hai. Agar rusi ki wajah se baal jhad rahe hain, toh dandruff shampoo kaam karega. Agar genetic hai ya stress ki wajah se hai, toh shampoo kuch nahi kar payega. Faltu paise mat bigado, doctor ko dikhao.

My son had severe itchy dandruff and started losing so much hair at just nineteen. We got him a mild zinc pyrithione shampoo which cleared the scalp, and his hair fall reduced drastically. As a parent, I'd say don't let them stress too much, just keep their scalp clean and feed them healthy home food.

Haan na, dandruff shampoos can make the hair very dry and frizzy if we use them too much. I always apply a little conditioner only on the hair ends after using it. Scalp clean ho jata hai but hair fall control karne ke liye hume diet pe bhi dhayan dena padega na.

Instead of buying expensive salon-brand anti-dandruff shampoos, just get a basic 2% Ketoconazole shampoo from a local pharmacy, it costs barely 150-200 rupees. If that doesn't reduce your hair fall in a month, save up for a dermatologist consultation rather than wasting money on trial-and-error.

I see this question a lot here. Dandruff causes itching, and when you scratch, you damage the roots, which causes hair to fall. So anti-dandruff shampoo helps indirectly by stopping the itch, but it's not a hair-growth miracle. Use it twice a week, not daily.

Hair loss has multiple underlying causes, ranging from male pattern baldness to thyroid issues or nutritional deficiencies. While an anti-dandruff shampoo will maintain scalp hygiene, it cannot cure systemic hair loss. A certified dermatologist's evaluation is absolutely necessary for an accurate treatment plan.

I used to cry seeing clumps of hair in the drain and thought dandruff shampoo was making it worse. But my derm reassured me that we naturally lose 50-100 strands a day anyway. Once I relaxed and used the medicated shampoo twice a week, my scalp cleared up and the shedding returned to normal.

Don't expect overnight results. Medicated dandruff shampoos take at least 4 to 6 weeks to show any difference in scalp health. If you are busy, just use it twice a week, leave it on for 3 minutes, and rinse. Don't waste time using it daily as it will only dry out your hair.
