Does almond milk cause weight gain?

I'm trying to maintain my weight and recently switched to almond milk for my coffee and smoothies. However, my cousin told me it might be high in calories. Does almond milk cause weight gain, or is it generally a good low-calorie option?

Unsweetened almond milk is extremely low in calories, usually around 30 to 40 calories per cup, so it won't cause weight gain. Just combine your low-calorie diet with a good 40-minute cardio session daily.

Almond milk itself is not a direct cause of weight gain, provided you choose the unsweetened version. Sweetened varieties contain added sugars that can easily increase your daily caloric intake, so always read the nutrition labels carefully.

Only the sweetened almond milks will pack on the pounds because they're loaded with sugar. Go for the plain unsweetened one and you can drink it daily without worrying about the scale.

As a diabetic, I use unsweetened almond milk because it has a very low glycemic index and doesn't spike my blood sugar. It is excellent for managing weight, but please avoid any brands that list sugar or syrup in the ingredients.

While it is generally safe and low-calorie, some people can have mild allergic reactions or digestive issues with commercial almond milk. It is always safer to get your allergies and dietary requirements checked by a general practitioner before making a permanent switch.

Honestly, working long hours leaves no time for complex diets, so swapping normal milk with unsweetened almond milk is a quick, easy way to save some calories. Just don't buy the flavored chocolate ones as they are full of sugar.
