Does alcohol increase liver enzymes?

My recent blood test showed slightly elevated liver enzymes, and my doctor asked about my drinking habits. I'm trying to understand the exact connection. Does alcohol consumption directly cause liver enzymes to increase?

Yes, it can cause a significant rise in your liver enzymes as the liver has to work extra hard to filter it. Don't worry too much, but try stopping alcohol for a few weeks and get tested again. Usually, they go back to normal.

Absolutely, elevated SGOT and SGPT levels are classic signs of alcohol-induced liver strain. If your levels are high, cut down drinking immediately and consult a physician. It is best to address this before it leads to fatty liver.

Yes, it does. I suggest booking a basic Liver Function Test (LFT) online, you can get it for around 400-500 rupees nowadays. It's much cheaper to check early and stop alcohol than to pay for expensive liver treatments later.

Dekho boss, seedhi baat hai, alcohol aur liver enzymes ka direct connection hai. regular drink karoge toh enzymes upar hi jayenge. Kuch din glass side me rakho aur paani piyo, liver ko thoda rest do.

Haan na, it definitely increases liver enzymes. Mere hubbys reports also showed high levels after weekend parties, ho na. We immediately stopped alcohol for a month and took simple home food, and the levels came down beautifully.

Yes, alcohol strains the liver and spikes those enzymes. Along with cutting alcohol, try adding a 30-minute daily walk to your routine to help your liver recover faster, provided your doctor clears you for light exercise. Keep it clean.

I had a scare twenty years ago when my liver enzymes went up due to social drinking. I stopped drinking completely, walked daily, and my liver healed perfectly. The liver is a very forgiving organ if you treat it well in time, don't worry.
