Does alcohol help with tooth pain?

My tooth has been bothering me for a couple of days now, and it's quite painful. A family elder suggested gargling with a strong alcoholic drink to ease the pain. Should I try this for my toothache?

Holding alcohol in your mouth might numb the area for a few minutes, but it's not a real solution and can irritate your gums. For temporary relief, gargle with warm salt water which is much safer, and make a dentist appointment soon.

Bro, don't do it. I tried keeping whiskey on my aching tooth once and it burnt my gums so badly, the pain got double. Just take a normal painkiller and go visit a dentist, don't try these hacks.

I tried checking if there's any logic to this, but alcohol can actually worsen inflammation and delay healing. Don't rely on it for dental pain. It's much better to use a proper dentist-recommended pain relief spray or gel.

Oh God, tooth pain is the absolute worst, I feel you. But alcohol really won't help and might just sting your mouth. Try pressing a clove (laung) gently near the tooth, it actually works wonders until you can see a doctor.

Using alcohol for physical pain is highly risky, especially if you take other medications as it can cause sudden blood pressure fluctuations. Tooth pain usually means there is a deep infection. Please see a dentist for a proper checkup.
