Does alcohol cause psoriasis?

I've recently developed psoriasis, and I'm trying to identify potential triggers. I do enjoy an occasional drink with friends. Is there any evidence that alcohol can actually cause psoriasis to appear?

Haan na, alcohol triggers skin flare-ups very badly. Whenever my cousin had beer or whiskey, his psoriasis patches would get so red and itchy the next day. It is better to completely stop drinking if you want your skin to heal.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition, not a simple skin allergy. Don't believe random blogs saying some herbal paste will cure it while you keep drinking. You need to consult a qualified dermatologist and understand how alcohol interferes with your skin medication.

Alcohol definitely increases inflammation in the body, which worsens psoriasis. Along with avoiding drinks, I found that daily 45-minute brisk walks and meditation help manage the stress that triggers these flare-ups. Do check with your doctor before starting any intense workout routine.

I totally get it, dealing with itchy, visible skin patches is so stressful and exhausting. Alcohol dehydrates the skin and makes the itching so much worse. Please be gentle with yourself, try cutting down on drinks, and see if your skin feels calmer.

I love my weekend parties, but my skin hates the drinks and the junk food. Alcohol causes major gut inflammation which directly shows up as skin issues like psoriasis. I've started switching to fresh fruit juices and coconut water to keep my cravings happy without ruining my skin.

Psoriasis is heavily linked to immune system dysregulation, and alcohol is a known trigger that can also render your systemic medications less effective. It's best to discuss your alcohol consumption patterns openly with your dermatologist to plan an effective management routine.
