Does air drying hair cause dandruff?

I've started air drying my hair more often to avoid heat damage. However, lately, I've noticed my scalp getting flaky. Does air drying hair cause dandruff?

I actually always air dry my hair because I thought heat styling is bad for it. But recently my scalp has been very itchy and flaky. Does keeping the hair wet for a long time actually make the fungus grow more, or is it just my shampoo?

I had terrible dandruff last winter because I used to let my thick hair air dry slowly in the cold. The moisture creates a perfect environment for yeast to grow. The trick is to blow dry just your roots on a cool setting and let the lengths air dry naturally.

Ho na, keeping scalp wet for hours can definitely cause issues! If you have thick hair and you leave it wet, scalp pe moisture stays and that leads to itching. I started using a microfibre towel to squeeze out excess water, and it has helped me a lot.

I tried applying curd, lemon, and methi paste for dandruff, but nothing worked until I realized my scalp was staying damp for too long after baths. Now I make sure to sit under the fan or in mild sunlight for some time after washing my hair. Damp scalp is a big enemy, so keep it dry.

Scientifically, leaving your scalp wet for prolonged periods can promote malassezia growth, which is the fungus responsible for dandruff. However, overwashing or using very harsh anti-dandruff shampoos can also dry out your skin and cause flaking. If the issue persists, it's best to consult a dermatologist for a proper medicated lotion.

I used to panic thinking I was losing all my hair because of dandruff from air drying. But my parlor lady told me it's totally normal if you just don't tie up wet hair. Just let it flow freely under a fan till it dries completely and don't worry too much.

At my age, I have realized that stress and poor blood circulation affect our skin and scalp health a lot. I also manage my high BP with regular walks and simple food, which keeps my overall health in check. Dandruff can just be a sign of low immunity or high stress, so look at your overall routine too.

I used to sleep with wet hair after late-night gym sessions and got crazy dandruff. Once I stopped doing that and started drying my hair properly under the fan, the flakes literally vanished in two weeks. Keep your scalp dry and you won't have this issue.
