Does a pregnancy test show positive for ectopic pregnancy?

I recently had a positive pregnancy test, but I've been having some unusual pain. My doctor mentioned checking for an ectopic pregnancy. Does a regular home pregnancy test usually show positive even if it's an ectopic pregnancy?

Yes, it does show positive because the body still produces the pregnancy hormone hCG. I panicked so much when I had severe pain early on, but thankfully my scan was normal. If you have any sharp pain on one side or bleeding, please get an ultrasound done immediately.

I was actually researching this online out of curiosity recently. It turns out that because the pregnancy hormone hCG is still created, a regular urine test will definitely show positive. But only an ultrasound can confirm where the egg has actually implanted.

I am so worried about this right now because my test is positive but I have a mild dull ache on my right side. Did anyone else experience this and have everything turn out fine? I am too scared to go for the scan.

Yes, it shows positive, but don't try to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy using internet forums or symptoms. It can be extremely dangerous and life-threatening. If you suspect anything abnormal, go straight to a hospital and get a proper scan done.

Yes, it shows positive. Having PCOS makes me very cautious about any reproductive health questions. Since ectopic pregnancies can be very risky, if you have any severe cramping, spotting, or shoulder pain, please contact a doctor immediately.

Hey, yes, a standard urine test will show positive because of the pregnancy hormones. But don't stress too much or jump to scary conclusions on your own. Just book an appointment with your gynecologist to get a routine early scan done, it's the safest way.

Yes, the test will be positive because the hormone levels still rise. Please try to stay calm and schedule an early ultrasound with your gynecologist to ensure the pregnancy is in the right place. Take care.
