Does a partial hysterectomy cause weight gain?

I'm considering a partial hysterectomy due to some health issues. My cousin mentioned that after her surgery, she gained a lot of weight and struggled to lose it. Does this procedure usually lead to weight gain?

I had a partial hysterectomy three years ago and did face some hormonal issues and weight changes. It really depends on whether your ovaries were kept or removed during the surgery. You should definitely consult your doctor to monitor your hormone levels post-surgery.

Actually yaar, a partial hysterectomy doesn't touch your ovaries, so your hormones should remain normal. Weight gain is mostly due to the complete lack of activity during the recovery period. Just watch your diet during rest and you'll be absolutely fine.

Honestly, at this age, breathing seems to cause weight gain! A partial hysterectomy itself doesn't directly cause it if the ovaries are left behind, but the forced rest after surgery certainly made me put on a few kilos. Just give your body time to heal.

In our days, women rested for a long time after such surgeries. Weight gain can happen if there is no physical activity or if hormones change, so eat light home-cooked meals. Warm cumin water can help with bloating, but do consult your doctor for any major health changes.

Don't blame the surgery entirely, sometimes it's just the post-op pampering with high-calorie food! If your ovaries are still there, your hormones should be fine, and any weight gain is usually temporary. Just start walking slowly once your doctor says it is okay.
