Does a pap smear show ovarian cancer?

I recently read about the symptoms of ovarian cancer and now I'm a bit worried as some of them sounded familiar. I get my regular Pap smears, but do those tests show if I have ovarian cancer or not? I always thought they were for other things.

Actually, it doesn't show ovarian cancer at all. A Pap smear is only for checking cervical health. I had the same confusion before my first test, but my doctor cleared it up. For ovaries, you need to ask for a pelvic ultrasound.

Oh god, I wish it was a one-test-fits-all situation, but sadly no! A Pap smear only handles cervix duties. Ovarian cancer is sneaky and needs different tests, so don't rely on your pap results for that. Time to bug your doctor for more info!

Hey, try not to worry. It's a common mistake to think the Pap smear covers everything. It is only for the cervix. If you are feeling any discomfort or just want to be sure, let's get you checked by a good gynecologist who can advise the right pelvic scan.

No, my dear. A Pap smear checks for cervical cancer by collecting cells from the cervix. It cannot detect ovarian cancer because the ovaries are separate organs. Please speak to your doctor if you have family history or symptoms.

A Pap test is only meant for the cervix, not the ovaries. Stay positive and take good care of your health, sister. Trust the process, visit your doctor for a proper scan, and let your mind be at peace.

I literally just asked my doctor this during my follow-up last week. She said a pap smear absolutely cannot see ovarian cancer. They had to do an ultrasound and some blood tests to check my ovaries, so please ask for those.
