Do your feet grow during pregnancy?

In my second trimester, and lately, my shoes feel tighter than usual. I heard somewhere that your feet can actually grow bigger during pregnancy. Is this a common thing, and will they go back to normal after delivery?

Yes, they can actually change size due to the hormone relaxin loosening the ligaments in the foot, plus the extra weight flattening the arches. Keeping up with gentle calf stretches and wearing supportive shoes helps manage this. But don't worry, it is a very common physical change.

Oh absolutely, my shoe size went up by a whole size during my pregnancy! 🙈 It's a mix of water retention and your ligaments relaxing. Good news is the swelling goes down, but sometimes that extra shoe size stays permanent! Time for some new footwear shopping!

Yes, my wife's feet grew so much we had to buy her slip-ons that looked like boats! It is just nature's way of giving you a wider base to carry that extra precious cargo. Don't worry, it is completely normal and a great excuse to buy comfortable new shoes.

In my time, we didn't have fancy medical terms for it, but we all knew our slippers got tight during pregnancy. It is a natural adjustment of the body to support the new life. Wear comfortable cotton socks and loose footwear, it will get much better after the baby arrives.

Yes, the swelling and flattening of feet is very common in pregnancy. Instead of buying expensive shoes, just get one or two pairs of cheap, soft orthopedic slippers one size larger to get you through those months. Keep your salt intake balanced to help reduce the swelling.

I completely panicked when none of my favorite heels fit me during my second trimester, thinking my feet were permanently ruined! But my doctor reassured me it's totally normal due to swelling and relaxin hormones. Most of the swelling cleared up a few weeks after delivery.

Yes, dear, your feet can expand during this time. The extra weight of the baby naturally flattens the foot arches, and water retention makes them swell. I always advise pregnant girls in our community to wear soft, flat slip-ons and keep their feet elevated whenever they sit down.
