Do weighted vests work for weight loss?

I'm looking for ways to boost my workouts and came across weighted vests. Some people claim they help burn more calories. Do weighted vests work for weight loss effectively, or are they more for strength training?

Please be very careful with weighted vests. I tried wearing one for my daily walks and ended up with severe lower back pain and a mild disc bulge because of the extra pressure. Definitely consult a doctor or physical therapist before trying this.

They do help increase calorie burn during walks because your body has to work harder. But a realistic tip is to start very light, maybe with just 2-3% of your body weight, and gradually increase it so you don't strain your shoulders.

Good weighted vests are quite expensive online. Instead of spending 3000 rupees on a vest, I suggest spending on basic bone density and joint health tests first. It is more practical to ensure your skeleton can handle the extra weight.

Arey, why buy an expensive vest that you will probably store in the cupboard after a week? If you want extra weight during walks, just carry a small water bottle in each hand. It works your arms too and costs nothing!

I have seen many people in this community try weighted vests for faster fat loss. While it does increase physical resistance, simple lifestyle habits like dietary control and consistent daily walking work far better in the long run without risking joint injuries.

Weighted vests are great for progressive overload during bodyweight movements like pullups and pushups. For pure weight loss, they help slightly by increasing your metabolic rate, but tracking your daily macronutrient intake is still the main key.

Using external weight puts a lot of stress on your knees and spine. Before you buy a weighted vest, please get your joints checked by an orthopedic doctor to make sure you don't cause any permanent wear and tear.

Adding artificial weight can disturb your natural posture and breathing pattern while walking. It is far better to focus on gentle yoga poses like Tadasana to align your spine naturally, which helps your body carry its own weight gracefully.

I tried walking with a 5 kg vest and felt like a soldier on a mission! It is super tiring but definitely makes you sweat more. Just make sure to stay hydrated and enjoy the process.

Haan na, it looks so heavy and uncomfortable to wear while walking. My cousin tried it and got terrible shoulder pain within a week. Better to walk normally and comfortably rather than risking our health.

I already carry enough weight around my stomach, why would I want to wear more on my chest! Jokes apart, at my age, saving my knees is more important than burning an extra 50 calories. Simple walks are best.

My gym buddy uses one for calisthenics and he swears by it for building power. But honestly, walking around the neighborhood wearing a tactical vest looks a bit weird, bro! Just normal cardio works fine for losing weight.
