Do varicose veins go away after pregnancy?

I developed some visible varicose veins on my legs during my last pregnancy, and my baby is now a year old, but they are still there. I was hoping they would disappear; do varicose veins go away after pregnancy?

While they might fade a bit, what you eat also matters for blood circulation. Try to include more fiber-rich foods and low-salt vegetarian options to keep your blood pressure stable, which helps your veins recover post-delivery.

In most cases, they improve dramatically within three to twelve months post-pregnancy as the pressure on your pelvis decreases. However, if they remain painful or swollen even after a year, it is wise to consult a vascular specialist.

They definitely get much better! Mine faded significantly within 3-4 months after my baby was born. Just keep moving and don't stand for too long at a stretch, you'll be fine!

I got them during my third trimester and was so conscious about my legs. Most of the swelling went down on its own after delivery, but wearing compression stockings and keeping my legs elevated whenever resting helped immensely.

Don't stress yourself out too much about this right now, your body is doing a lot of hard work. They usually lighten up significantly after birth as your hormone levels settle. Just make sure you aren't standing in the kitchen for hours without breaks.

I literally cried seeing the purple lines on my legs and thought they would stay forever! But trust me, once the baby is out and the extra fluid volume drops, they shrink back quite a lot. Just give your body some time to heal.

Please don't just wait for them to go away on their own if they are throbbing. I ignored mine thinking it is just pregnancy swelling, and it turned into a very painful condition later. Get a doctor to look at them during your post-natal checkup.
