Do ulcers cause weight gain?

I was recently diagnosed with a stomach ulcer, and I've noticed I've put on a little weight since then. I'm wondering if there's any connection. Can having an ulcer actually cause weight gain, or is it unrelated?

Usually, ulcers cause weight loss because eating becomes painful, but some people eat more frequently to soothe the acid burn, leading to weight gain. As a diabetic, I have to be very careful with my meal times. Please check with your doctor before changing your diet pattern.

Normally ulcers make people lose weight because of the tummy pain, but sometimes eating actually relieves the pain temporarily! 😅 So if you find yourself snacking constantly to stop the burn, that might cause a bit of weight gain. Stay happy and take care!

Actually, it's usually the opposite because of the stomach pain, but sometimes we end up overeating dairy or carbs to stop the burning sensation, which can cause weight gain. Try to stick to small, soothing meals and drink plenty of water.

Ulcers usually make you lose weight because eating food starts hurting the stomach. If you are gaining weight instead, maybe the digestion is slow. Please eat very light food and talk to a doctor in your area soon.

I completely understand how worrying it is when your weight changes unexpectedly while dealing with health issues. Most people lose weight with ulcers, but anxiety can also mess up our appetite. Please don't stress, just let a doctor guide you.

When I had a stomach ulcer, I actually lost about 4 kgs because I was too scared of the burning pain to eat anything. I haven't heard of weight gain happening, but everyone's body reacts differently to stomach issues.
