Do they put you to sleep for cataract surgery?

My eyesight is getting very blurry due to cataracts, and the eye doctor suggested surgery. I am quite scared about the procedure. Do they put you to sleep for cataract surgery, or will I be awake during it?

No, they don't put you to sleep. We just use numbing eye drops so you don't feel anything, and you are awake the whole 15 minutes.

You are fully awake during the procedure. Keep your diet light and eat plenty of green leafy vegetables afterward to support eye healing.

They only use local numbing drops. If you have thyroid issues, make sure your thyroid levels are stable and check with your doctor before scheduling.

No sleep medicine is needed. Just keep your mind peaceful, trust the doctor, and the surgery will be over in no time.

Actually yaar, my dad had it last month. He was fully awake, and said he only saw some bright lights and felt no pain at all.

My grandmother was wide awake during her cataract operation. The doctor just applied numbing gel and talked to her to keep her comfortable.

They keep you awake. Just make sure your blood pressure is well-controlled on the morning of the surgery, as doctors check it before starting.

You are awake throughout. My tip is to just focus on a single light point as the doctor instructs, it's over before you know it.
